Playtop has, for more than 40 years, invited and inspired customers to participate in our mission towards protecting our planet through responsible recycled playground flooring.
Creating sustainable surfacing from recycles truck and bus tyres since 1977. Charles Lawrence had the vision to create a facility to recycle tyres and transform these into a surface for use on recreational sites, with the first fully recycled base layer being installed in 1977. Playtop then grew from strength to strength and lead the way in the creation of wet pour surfacing, becoming the worlds leading rubber safety surfacing provider.
The plant recycles approximately 20,000 tonnes of truck and bus tyres per year, only tyres conforming to PAS107 Quality Protocol are accepted for recycling.
The process breaks down the tyre into components of rubber, steel, and textile so no parts are sent to landfill.
In 2008, Playtop partnered with Nike to take recycled sports shoes and manufacturing leftovers to recycle into Nike Grind surfacing. This approach is to work towards a zero-waste future, ensuring everything has multiple life cycles.
Playtop remains the market leader in the industry and continuously strives to find better technological and sustainable solutions.
